Meet Rosalie

Rosalie's first bath

Hi there! I thought it was time that I told you a little about myself, now that I've been in the family for six weeks!

I'm around 21 inches, somewhere over 10 pounds, and have dark hair and dark blue eyes. Some of my most striking features include my very long, tapered fingers. Mom thinks they look a lot like my Aunt Kristi's, and others have suggested that I might have piano playing in my future. We'll just see.

I'm also noted for the intense stare, that I use to make Mom & Dad nervous. It's great: I just suddenly look up at them with my dark eyes wide and piercing, and stare intently at them for a minute or two. Mom thinks it must be something like "The Ray" stare that Benny Goodman was famous for. (See the above photo of me in my first bath for an example!)

My favorite activity is sleeping. I've managed to raise it to quite the art form. A good sleep must start with a lot of squeaking and squealing, along with some stretching in all directions and a LOT of funny faces. The folks love that part, so I really ham it up. I might go through this process 3 or 4 times as I'm settling down, so my mom actually turned the monitor off on the very first night I was home, realizing she'd get no sleep if she listened to it all!

My dislikes include having my clothes changed, being offered food when what I really want to do is sleep, and having the person holding me sit down or (heaven forbid) stop bouncing when I'm trying to sleep in their arms. I voice my dislike of such activities using a very special noise that Mom has dubbed my 'ringwraith' scream. It took her a while to get used to that one.

Although I'm a bit smaller than my sister was (I'm told), I've been surprising everyone, starting with the nurse who first bathed me, by how strong I really am. Everyone comments on how tiny I look , but looks can be deceiving: Try to put on my clothes when I don't want you to, and I'll show you!

All in all, I'm pretty content with this family. They let me sleep a lot, my older sister gives me lots of kisses (it's the bear hugs that I'm not a big fan of), and Mom is starting to figure out my likes and dislikes. In return, I'm being pretty good about sleeping at night, and giving her longer and longer stretches between feedings.

That's me in a nutshell! I'll be sure to check back with you, and keep you posted as more of my personality unfolds!
